Next to a logo, we believe ROUNDMAP™ needed a symbol. A symbol that respects the complexity of the framework while at the same time don’t scare people off. The emblem needed to be clean but not plain. Sophisticated but not pompous. And it needed to be identifiable, symbolic, and contemporary, as well as arouse curiosity.
We wanted to highlight two aspects in particular. On the one hand, firms need to have a clear vision of the future and share that vision with stakeholders. Without a clear vision, the future isn’t just murky; you’ll have no way to keep track of progress, attract people with the right capabilities, or allocate the necessary resources on time.
So, we placed an eye in the middle, suggesting always looking ahead and knowing what you are hoping to achieve as a collective. And to always be on the lookout for new threats and opportunities. At the same time, you’ll need to look through different lenses to create an integrated perspective from which to master any business situation. And finally, in line with critical thinking, to truly see each other eye to eye.
The second aspect we wanted to emphasize was connectedness. By applying Taylorism throughout the organization, most firms sacrificed connectivity in favor of productivity. As a result, communication and collaboration between silos are poor, to say the least, curbing creativity, information sharing, mutual understanding and trust, empathy, and innovation.
